It doesn't say that. He says, "I am returning to my Father...", but doesn't say when.
"Do you not read the scriptures for yourself?"
Do you?
Acts 1:1-11 "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky?'
If Jesus was popping in and out of the sky for little chats now and then, you would think the thing would be mentioned more than once.
Jesus was conveying to Mary that she should not plan to hold onto Him in this world now that she had found Him again, because He was going to ascend to The Father. He instructs her to go and tell the disciples this will be happening and before He ascends, He will visit with them in Galilee. I suspect He was headed to Galilee because His Mother, Mary, was there and He would be with her once more before His Ascension. The King James makes it sound like there is something not clean about Him or unfinished in His resurrection. That is not what the Greek verb cases convey however.
John 20: 17
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
I just thought I would juxtapose your silly response with the scripture I cited.
If Jesus was popping in and out of the sky for little chats now and then, you would think the thing would be mentioned more than once.
Matthew 28 16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. 17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Mark 16 9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.
Luke 24 14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened. 15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. 16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. 30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. 31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
Luke 24 36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. 38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
Luke 24 50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. 51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
Acts Chapter 1 3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
John 20 19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
John 20 26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
John 21 1 After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself.
If Jesus was popping in and out of the sky for little chats now and then, you would think the thing would be mentioned more than once.
Is that enough "popping in and out" for you? Again, PLEASE read the scriptures. You and the others are getting to be very tiresome. You throw out baseless charges against the Church and baseless and misleading posts again and again. I have to correct you every time and you don't address the substance of your error but instead throw out another red herring.
