Catholics do not worship the Pope.

Yes, many of them do. I used to date a guy who was Catholic and we used to have religious 'debates' over Salvation. When I asked him if he was a Christian, he said "no, I'm a Catholic" so I asked him if the Pope died for him, or did Jesus Christ. He considered the Pope to be his "holy father" and I explained that the Bible warns that we are to "call no man father but me." He tells us that He is a "jealous God." When I quit dating him, he was still lost in his sin.

Catholics shouldn’t date Protestants, actually.

Do you or did you ever use the term “father” in regards to your biological father, or did you in fact call him by his first name? If you did use the term, then it seems you’re steeped in sin. Shame on you.

This all may be true. The guy that you used to date may have worshiped the Pope, but as far as the Dogma is concerned...see post 25.

On the other hand,

Matthew 7:16 (New International Version)
16By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?

Which Church has been more successful, which one has gotten the divine blessing of most fruit?

Proverbs 3:5 (New International Version)
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

Try not to assume you understand what God meant in those passages you cited to your ex-boyfriend. Leave it to the experts who have the proven inspiration of God.

Good story. Thanks for sharing.

It is apparent to me that the "church" wants to claim the power to grant salvation unto itself. It justifies this by claiming an "apostolic succession" to Peter.

Scripture states time, and time again that salvation is granted through faith in Christ and acceptance of His sacrifice on the cross for our sins. It is grace that saves us from Hell, not the "church" as an institution.

I am amazed at this blatant power grab by men who attempt to usurp the holy throne of God Himself. It is just unbelievable.
