*snicker* Neither do I, or any Catholics. Is that what you think we do? Get on the Popephone to talk to God?

In a way, you are. As you have things decided for you about how you will worship and the words you use. These are the ultimate responsibility of the Pope.

And this is a problem because...? Yes, the Mass and prayers like the Liturgy of the Hours are pre-defined, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It allows us to pray the Scriptures in a manner that we may not be able to otherwise. Also, it allows a continuity of worship from place to place and from time to time.

Also, Catholics are quite free to pray extemporaneously on our own, or in groups outside of Mass, if we so choose.

I guess everyone in your church services worships and says different things all at the same time? In Mass, I participate with the liturgy and prayers of the Mass but when I am not at Mass I pray and worship any way I want and use any words I want. Some people are just absurd in their prejudices.

“As you have things decided for you about how you will worship and the words you use. “

That would be the Word of God, not the Pope.
