The Holy Tridentine Roman Rite Mass

The Tridentine Mass takes its name from the Council of Trent ( 1545-63 ), under the watchful eye of Pope Saint Pius V. The "Tridentine Rite" is, therefore, more properly called the Ancient or Traditional Roman Rite. The last edition of its missal was published in 1962.

The traditional Roman Rite differs from the new rite -- the 1969 Novus Ordo. This “new Mass” omits about 70 percent of the traditional Mass prayers. Most consider the traditional Latin Mass to be much more formal, more dignified.

It’s emphasis is on the sacrifice of Jesus and the recognition of the “true presence” of Jesus—Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity—in the Holy Eucharist. The entire Mass focuses on the Consecration of the Body and Blood and on reception of Christ in Holy Communion. This is represented in the photograph below.

The priest and the faithful face forward to the altar...and to God. The Holy Traditional Tridentine Roman Rite Latin Mass is the manner in which Catholics worshiped The One True God for well over 1,000 years. For those over the age of 40, it is the Mass of their youth. For those too young to remember incense filled churches, Gregorian chant, and the reverent silence at Mass, the Tridentine rite offers a return to a profound manner of worship.

>The Athanasian Creed, attributed to Saint Athanasius, also know as the Quicumque vult, was formerly recited at the office of Prime on Sundays and Trinity Sunday is the time when we renew our commitment to our Faith and the dogma Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus - "Outside the Church There is No Salvation." The Athanasian Creed is one of the four authoritative Creeds of Holy Mother Church, and it is not something that is an opinion but what every Roman Catholic must believe.

:  Whosoever wishes to be saved must, above all, keep the Catholic Faith. For unless a person keeps this Faith whole and entire, he will undoubtedly be lost forever. This is what the Catholic Faith teaches: we worship one God in the Trinity and the Trinity in unity. Neither confounding the Persons, nor dividing the substance. For there is one Person of the Father, another of the Son, another of the Holy Spirit. But the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit have one divinity, equal glory, and coeternal majesty. What the Father is, the Son is, and the Holy Spirit is. The Father is uncreated, the Son is uncreated, and the Holy Spirit is uncreated. The Father is boundless, the Son is boundless, and the Holy Spirit is boundless. The Father is eternal, the Son is eternal, and the Holy Spirit is eternal. Nevertheless, there are not three eternal beings, but one eternal being. So there are not three uncreated beings, nor three boundless beings, but one uncreated being and one boundless being. Likewise, the Father is omnipotent, the Son is omnipotent, the Holy Spirit is omnipotent. Yet there are not three omnipotent beings, but one omnipotent being. Thus the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. However, there are not three gods, but one God. The Father is Lord, the Son is Lord, and the Holy Spirit is Lord. However, there as not three lords, but one Lord. For as we are obliged by Christian truth to acknowledge every Person singly to be God and Lord, so too are we forbidden by the Catholic religion to say that there are three Gods or Lords. The Father was not made, nor created, nor generated by anyone. The Son is not made, nor created, but begotten by the Father alone. The Holy Spirit is not made, nor created, nor generated, but proceeds from the Father and the Son. There is, then, one Father, not three Fathers; one Son, not three sons; one Holy Spirit, not three holy spirits. In this Trinity, there is nothing before or after, nothing greater or less. The entire three Persons are co-eternal and co-equal with one another. So that in all things, as is has been said above, the Unity is to be worshipped in Trinity and the Trinity in Unity. He, therefore, who wishes to be saved, must believe thus about the Trinity. It is also necessary for eternal salvation that he believes steadfastly in the incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ. Thus the right faith is that we believe and confess that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is both God and man. As God, He was begotten of the substance of the Father before time; as man, He was born in time of the substance of His Mother. He is perfect God; and He is perfect man, with a rational soul and human flesh. He is equal to the Father in His divinity, but inferior to the Father in His humanity. Although He is God and man, He is not two, but one Christ. And He is one, not because His divinity was changed into flesh, but because His humanity was assumed unto God. He is one, not by a mingling of substances, but by unity of person. As a rational soul and flesh are one man: so God and man are one Christ. He died for our salvation, descended into hell, and rose from the dead on the third day. He ascended into Heaven, sits at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there He shall come to judge the living and the dead. At His coming, all men are to arise with their own bodies; and they are to give an account of their own deeds. Those who have done good deeds will go into eternal life; those who have done evil will go into the everlasting fire. This is the Catholic Faith. Fifth Sunday After Pentecost

His Most Precious Blood was shed in the Circumcision, the Agony, the Crowning with thorns and supremely in the Crucifixion of our Savior Jesus Christ and it is offered daily in the Sacrifice of the Altar. The Missal gives today the Octave of Saint John the Baptist, which, however, only appears in the Roman Calendar during the late Middle Ages. In the liturgical reform of Pope Saint Pius X this day was chosen for the feast of the Most Precious Blood, which had already been fixed under Blessed Pius IX for the first Sunday in July. Blessed Pius IX instituted this feast in thanksgiving for the deliverance of the Apostolic See from the violent revolutionaries who had expelled the Pope to Gæta. In 1849, with the assistance of the French army, they were vanquished and the pope was able to return to Rome.

The meaning of this feast is closely akin to that of the Sacred Heart. The Most Precious Blood of Jesus is the price of universal redemption, which love would not have to be anything less than itself. There is a very close connection between the Heart and the Blood not only because, according to Blessed Apostle Saint John, after the death of our Savior, blood and water flowed from His Heart, but because the first chalice in which that divine Blood was consecrated and vivified was precisely the Heart of the Incarnate Word. The apostle of this special devotion was the Blessed Gaspare del Bufalo, founder of the Congregation of the Most Precious Blood. In the ancient Roman rite the Mass of Passion Sunday was especially intended to recall to the remembrance of the faithful the infinite value of the Blood of Jesus Christ.

Prayer for the Universal Church

Pray for those who have been wandering and wondering in the conciliar desert for lo over 40 years. Pray for the conversion of the Novus Ordo hierarchy from the highest to the lowest echelons of the clergy, who, in the same manner as the Arian bishops, have apostasized from the True Church which Jesus Christ established on the Rock of Peter. Pray that they will wake from their devastating slumber, cast off their lukewarmness, and demand the unadulterated dogmatic Faith with no novelties, no ecumenism, no modernism, no anything but truly Catholic, embodied by true shepherds who will mandate the only possible Catholic worship - the true and continual sacrifice: the Traditional Latin Mass, set in stone for all time by Pope Saint Pius V.

O God, our refuge and our strength, smite those failing to lead Thy Holy Church,
by and through the intercession of Saint Michael the Archangel; the Immaculate Virgin Mother Mary; Beloved Saint Joseph; Thy blessed apostles Peter and Paul; and all the saints.
Hear our fervent prayers for more holy priests consecrated according to Thy will;
Provide Your Church leadership with the courage to convert all heretics, pagans, false idolaters and false god worshipers, and especially non-Catholics who refuse to accept the One True Church founded by Your Son and our Redeemer, Christ Jesus;
We pray for a sacred reformation of our Holy Mother Church - guided by to Your servant, Pope Pius XII in his Apostolic Constitution Sacramentum Ordinis.

This combat soldier's prayer,
Who has served his time in Hell,
Is may we learn the lessons of war well,
That we not doom future generations,
The same old tales of horror to tell,
To endure what in youth they see mistakenly as glory.
Oh God, do not let our children
Repeat the same old story.

Make it so that America's babies live to grow old
In this land of the free and the bold.
Help us throw off the shackles of hate that bind
And grow old in a life of a peaceful kind.

Teach us that there is no glory in war, Nor honor there that brave men should not abhor.

Appointed Archbishop of Mainz, Germany in 1153. Martyred in 1160 in Mainz, Germany.

Saint Carilefus

Grew up at the Menat monastery, Riom, France. Friend of Saint Avitus. Ordained at Micy abbey. His reputation for holiness attracted so many would-be students that he founded a monastery for them at Anisole, Maine, and served as its first abbot.

Saint Castus

Bishop in Sinussa, Campania, Italy. Martyred in 305.

Saint Cewydd

Saint Domitian

Orphaned in Rome. Monk at Lerins, France. Founded the monastery at Bebron that is now known as Saint Rambert de Joux.

Saint Eparchius

Duke of Perigord, France. He became a hermit, moving into a sealed up cell at Angouleme ( Cybor ), France in 542. His devotion attracted many students causing Saint Eparchius to leave his cell. He was ordained, and later founded a monastery for those who were called, and served as its abbot.

Saint Felix of Como

First bishop of Como, Italy. Friend of Saint Ambrose of Milan.

Saint Gall

Gallic nobility, and a relative of Saint Vettius Apagatus. Uncle and teacher of Saint Gregory of Tours. He refused an arranged marriage to the daughter of an imperial senator, and withdrew to the monastery at Cournon near Auvergne. Monk. Deacon under Saint Quinctian. Represented Quinctian at the court of King Theirry. Bishop of Clermont in 527. Known as a miracle worker, and as a man so meek and humble that those who sought to attack him were often converted by his gentleness.

Saint Junipero Serra

Entered the Franciscan University at Palma at age 15, and joined the Order at age 17, taking the name Junipero after the friend of Saint Francis. Ordained in 1737, and taught philosophy and theology at the Lullian University.

In 1749, Serra was sent to the missionary territories of western North America. A mosquito bite he received early in his trip to the New World left one leg swollen; this and his asthma made walking a painful process for the rest of his life.

A tireless worker, Serra was largely responsible for the foundation and spread of the Church on the West Coast of the United States. Founded twenty-one missions, converted thousands of Native Americans, and trained many of them in European methods of agriculture, cattle husbandry, and crafts. Dedicated religious and missionary, penitent and austere in all areas of his life.

Blessed Junipero Serra is the namesake of the Serra Club, an international Catholic organization dedicated to the promotion of vocations, and the support of seminarians and religious novices. Many of his letters and other writings have survived, and the diary of his travels to the west was published in the early 20th century. Father Serra is entombed at Carmel, Monterey, California.

Sister of Saint Sidwell. Virgin martyr in the 7th century.

Blessed Martin of Vienne

Sent by Pope Saint Alexander I as missionary to Vienne, France. Served as its third bishop.

Saint Nazju Falzon

Also known as Ignatius Falzon.

Son of Francis Joseph, a judge, and Mary Teresa, the daughter of judge. He and all three of his brothers became lawyers; two of his brothers entered the priesthood. Received Minor Orders at age 15. Earned a degree in theology, but did not feel worthy of the priesthood. Taught catechism to children at the Institute of the Good Shepherd; known to help the poorer children with money, as well.

Worked with the British soldiers and sailors stationed on the island, meeting them by hanging around the docks and other places where they were assigned. They were rough men in a rough district of bars and prostitutes. Those who were interested in his teachings, he brought to his own home for services. When more and more grew interested, he moved them to the Jesuit Church in Valletta. To explain the faith, he imported simple religious works in assorted vernacular languages, and distributed them to the men. Wrote The Comfort of the Christian Soul. He converted hundreds, and for those who stayed on the island, he became their pastor, performed their marriages, baptized their children, said homilies at their funerals.

Student of Saint Remigius of Rheims. Founded the abbey of Mont d'Or, France, and served as its first abbot. Noted evangelist. A healer, he miraculously cured King Theodoric of an eye disease.
