AWESOME!
I apologize, but seeing this stuff lately the Catholic Church looks more and more like a cult to me.
Come again? What do you mean?
So many things to read, tying up every day of a person’s life in tunnels of verbage and rules, all directing a person’s journey to God. Very little of it is in the Bible, Jesus never had anything to do with the mass of directions this church takes its devotees into. He laid it out simply.
LOL! I thought so. To paraphrase another FReeper has ell me where “Sola Scriptura” is taught in the Bible, and I’ll get back to you.
Oops, that should say, “To paraphrase another FReeper has written, tell me where Sola Scriptura is taught in the Bible, and Ill get back to you.
I particularly find that funny after watching a History Channel clip about Jonestown. Now THAT was a cult.
Maybe someone inside of a cult can’t see they’re in it. A society of mirrors. But I have friends who are deeply Catholic, really into the religion, who love it and are sustained by it. More power to you. See God Ki.
Ok, on the one hand you are lead to believe it is a cult, then you say “I have friends who are deeply Catholic, really into the religion, who love it and are sustained by it. More power to you.” Whatever floats your boat indeed.
Friends, not myself. I’ve had discussions with them and they defend everything, don’t accept any point I make, and adhere to their authorities every word which then becomes their belief. I’m hoping no Pope comes along who like the taste of Kool Aide.
Per the History Channel clip, it was FlavorAid, not KoolAid. I don’t know what you’re referring to, but a Catholic doesn’t have to follow every little thing the Pope says. The Catholic Church has its teachings, and the bulk of them didn’t come from any of the Popes.
Just looked up Flavor Aid on Google. I didn’t know that, thought the Jonestown people drank Kool Aid. You gave me new information tonight, well worth the discussion. It was grape Flavor Aid. As for the Popes, they wouldn’t have the time to write and issue all the stuff Catholics read and believe. And I just realized by reading your post that this is the Religion forum, something I didn’t know I was listed on. Can you take me off this forum?
Well, if you can post on FR, you can post on the Religion Forum. No need to be listed.
Yes, we’re cult. You obviously don’t know the secret handshake. Now go away.
Over and out. Enjoy the discussion.
Has anyone noticed that July 7 will be 777. Nice! Stand back, we are Rollin’ em hot now. Sweet home.
Uh, here's a classic example of a historical reference not helping an argument any.
Mr. Drink-the-Flavor-Aide himself, Jim Jones, was an ordained minister in the Disciples of Christ.
