Who said the true Church “resides” in Rome? But it would be odd if the “true” Church taught contradictory things and not just about small matters.
Should have looked in his Bible.
Mat 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
What's the over-under on how many "First Baptist Churches" ther are in the United States? Would not be surprised if there were at leasr 25-35,000.
Amen to that.
That's too bad and uncalled for. Maybe I can help - who is doing the bashing?
This is the second such nonsense Ive seen.
I'm sure Ken Hensley doesn't consider it nonsense. Do you consider it nonsense just because he became a Catholic?
Protestantism came about because folk got tired of the nonsense promoted by Rome.
You are entitled to your opinion. I tend to think that part of the cause was vain individuals wanting to become their own pope.
The true church doesnt reside in Rome.
I'm not sure what you mean by that, or who has claimed that. Christ founded a visible Church, as Scripture testifies. This One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic church is made up of 22 Catholic churches, one of which is the Latin church, and the Eastern Orthodox.
Nor was there a Catholic in sight. The first church was composed of followers of Jesus Christ period. The doctrine they followed was the New Testament. It was described in the New Testament as “the church of Christ” and “the church of God”, no where is it ever described as Catholic.
If Catholics want to go down this road it will open many of their eyes to the truth of their traditionalisms that has nothing to do with the first church of Christ. Praying to Mary is not in the New Testament, it is totally invented by the Catholics. Baptizing infants is not in the New Testament, it was totally invented by the Catholics. The list goes on and on.
Good point. Yes, Arabic speaking Christians, whether they are Catholic or not, use Allah for God.
That's because "First Baptist" or "First Methodist" or whatever, does NOT mean "first ever on the planet", but simply, first to be built in that city. Here and there you'll see a church called "Second Baptist of [Town name]".
I think Catholics would like to go down this road. I invite you to start a separate thread as there are many here who would like to discuss this with you.
“This One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic church is made up of 22 Catholic churches, one of which is the Latin church, and the Eastern Orthodox.”
And that is found in scripture where? You contradict yourself in saying that my statement wasn’t correct and then say this regarding the “true church”.
I don’t care if a Protestant converts to Catholicism or vise versa. That’s between them and God.
What I do care about is evangelicals such as Baptists being painted with a false brush in an attempt to promote the “correctness” of the Catholic church.
I think it is right next to the doctrine of sola scriptura.
You contradict yourself in saying that my statement wasnt correct and then say this regarding the true church.
That wasn't a contradiction. You said "The true church doesnt reside in Rome", and I replied "I'm not sure what you mean by that."
What I do care about is evangelicals such as Baptists being painted with a false brush in an attempt to promote the correctness of the Catholic church.
What "false brush"?
Sola the Word of God, Jesus Christ, of Mathew 23.
‘nuff said.
Those threads you provided a link to have all been posted as a response.
Apparently, the poster of #3 doesn't realize that since he called it "a" first baptist church.
Indicating, of course, that he doesn't have much of an idea about the church he is (today) attacking. (He apparently thinks there is a denomination, perhaps, called "first" baptists?
LOL!
Wow, you keep statistics on all posters?! That's a little obsessive, wouldn't you agree?
really ? - what about wiccan temples.....or faiths that would deny the deity of Christ ?
But there were presbyters. The church of Rome was run by a college of presbyters until the late 2nd century.
If he had only done his homework, he should have become a Presbyterian ------- but none of these so-called converts to Catholicism ever do their homework.
But in actuality he doesn't. But since you bring it up, it is interesting to note that there isn't just a single "Baptist" denomination in America, there are many:
So, since Jews don't believe in Christ, we shouldn't help the Jews? Mother Theresa shouldn't have helped the non-Christian sick and destitute in India? I don't buy it. As a Christian, I should help those in need.
