“His roots were Catholic, that was his moral foundation. He hated Jews because his church taught him to...”
So the KKK Presbyterians hated blacks because their church taught them to?
Ish.
Your grasp of history needs to be...refreshed? Instructed?
I am absolutely at a loss for words for this one. Not only did I have a Lutheran German grandmother, I had Jewish German relatives who fortunately got out prior to 1939. I can assure you, the Catholic church isn’t the reason Hitler gassed the Jews.
Politely, I ask, do you think perhaps your hatred of the Catholic Church is coloring your view a bit too much? You may want to use some reason in viewing history.
You disagree with that and think something what is true is silly. Jesus read Jewish scripture but did not write Christian scripture. Jesus believed in teaching through people both good and bad. He selected Apostles and told them to teach. He established an Apostolic succession with Peter as the head. It still is what it was and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.
Because you said so. Right.
He pointed out the issues that caused the conversion in a letter to his pastor, that apparently had no answer for him.
Asking questions or seeking ruth is not bashing
I bet he’s never heard of the (rather well-respected) “No Luther No Hitler” school of WWII historical thought.
I am an ordained United Methodist elder (minister.) I am currently lead pastor at our rural methodist church.
And the real question is: When am I NOT at church....:>)
Nope. Because you allow the proposition to stand uncontested.
That was apparently the official church teaching back then.
Your unproven proposition stands unproven. The prosecution goes first. Present your case.
I left at Easter...hope you’ve had some luck finding a place to worship. There are really a lot of excellent, welcoming Christian churches out there that do a great job of living out their faith and making visitors feel welcome.
(A few rotten to the core ones as well: Episcopalians, United Methodists for instance.)
I particularly enjoyed the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod congregation, a couple of Baptist (Regular Baptist and Southern Baptist) ones, and a Presbyterian (Church of America) one that I visited...depending on how much you enjoy the sacramental style of worship.
Perhaps they were reading this notoriously anti-Semitic tract by Martin Luther.
Yer honor, I present the entire old & new testaments.
In them there is not one word about the assumption of Mary, her immaculate conception, or her coredemption.
Stem to stern it isn’t mentioned either by name or by similar teaching.
I rest my case.
xzins: I am an ordained United Methodist elder (minister.) I am currently lead pastor at our rural methodist church.
Ooooh...ouch.
“Asking questions or seeking ruth is not bashing”
Oh, but this is from the site:
“When confronted with the truth concerning the doctrines and practices of their cult, Roman Catholic apologists often attempt to discredit their antagonist by declaring he doesn’t really understand the RCC. The implication is that the Christian apologist is not qualified to address RCC doctrinal issues because he is not on the “inside.”
While this sometimes may be true, most of the people I know who are working to shine God’s light into the shadowy world of Catholicism do know what they are talking about.
The Crucifixion (Van Eyck)
Many of us used to be Roman Catholics and just about all of us likely spend more time researching and reading ‘official’ RCC documents and church history than the vast majority of the Catholic faithful. When we expose the foolishness of what they have been taught, many Catholics are shocked and go into denial because they had no idea of the sad truth behind the false dogma and doctrines of the Roman church.
On this page are links to letters written by people who used to be Roman Catholics. Read in their own words what led them to renounce paganism and take Christ’s offered hand.”
What a hateful little screed this is.
I have a copy of the Code of Canon Law in front of me. How come I can’t find any of these citations? Are you referenceing the Code promulgated by Pope John Paul II in 1982?
Here is the Link ttp://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/1843334/posts?page=16#16
"How about Luther ? He was driven off and chased and desired dead.
Personaly I do not defend Henry VIII , but I have a God who shows mercy to whom He will show mercy, so Henry might just be a Saint
Not one word there on his politics or doctrine.
“I was raised during WWII and in my Catholic school I was taught by the sisters of St Mary of Namur that the jews killed Jesus.”
And which German city is this?
You stated the Catholic church in Germany. I’m really German. My family is from Schwabach.
