“In early January 2007, I began reading the Early Church Fathers and the Catechism, focusing on the doctrines that I thought were key.”

This was my first “mistake” in my attempt to find my protestant theology in the early church. Having grown up pentecostal in the Assemblies of God I was, needless to say, horrified by what I discovered. However, I could not get past St. Paul’s declaration that the Church would be the pillar, and ground of truth. To deny the existence of the church for 2000 years was tantamount to declaring false the very writings I had based my doctrines on.
