The song Live to Tell, in which Madonna is crucified, is one of the best sermons I have witnessed in my life, and he challenged Catholics to follow the example of the singer. Holy moly!

Yes. And “Like a Virgin” is really promoting chastity, too!

Father Carlos Novoa, SJ, ex-dean of the Department of Theology at the Javeriana University wants to have sex with Madonna.

a creative and moving work of art. There's must be a translation problem. He probably meant to say "derivative and puerile".

Yeah, and if you squint your eyes and look at a swastika from a distance, it might look like a cross. What the hell is wrong with these people?

OK, I read the lyrics but fail to see the greatest sermon ever. Maybe someone can enlighten me.
Live To Tell Lyrics Artist(Band):Madonna
I have a tale to tell Sometimes it gets so hard to hide it well I was not ready for the fall Too blind to see the writing on the wall
Chorus:
A man can tell a thousand lies I've learned my lesson well Hope I live to tell The secret I have learned, 'till then It will burn inside of me
I know where beauty lives I've seen it once, I know the warm she gives The light that you could never see It shines inside, you can't take that from me
(chorus)
2nd Chorus:
The truth is never far behind You kept it hidden well If I live to tell The secret I knew then Will I ever have the chance again
If I ran away, I'd never have the strength To go very far How would they hear the beating of my heart Will it grow cold The secret that I hide, will I grow old How will they hear When will they learn How will they know
(chorus) (2nd chorus) |

Fifty years ago the Jesuits were intellectual giants, although a bit arrogant from time to time.
What happened to them?

Considering she is a cabbalist, I don’t see where she can make any sermon at all.

"In this postmodern, skeptic world in which so many people abhor or are simply uninterested in the faith, will ministers of the Church and Catholics in general have this audacity and this creativity to communicate a Jesus who truly shakes people up on the inside? Novoa wondered. What a complete idiot. Meditating on the Word of the Lord is all you need to "shake people up on the inside." Running around on a stage with your cloths half-off, with the singing voice of jackel for a cheap thrill will certainly lead no one to Jesus.

Madonna is neither a Kabbalist, nor is she an Evangelist. While she might try to shirk the title she is without a doubt a capitalist. In deference to the Christian community here at FR I will simply state that she is best described by a two syllable compound word, the first of which is “media”.

Turn those lemons into lemonade,...get on your knees.
I have a friend who will be ordained in 3 weeks through the Diocese of Baltimore. His name is Jesse and he will undoubtedly be an excellent and faithful servant of Christ.
Please pray for him during these next few weeks.

It’s all up to interpretation. A few years ago I gave a second listen to “Lovesong” by The Cure and thought it was about Eucharistic Adoration. Now I can never go back to the figure ground this simple love song, and I like the tune even more to boot.
Whenever I’m alone with you
You make me feel like I am home again
Whenever I’m alone with you
You make me feel like I am whole again
Whenever I’m alone with you
You make me feel like I am young again
Whenever I’m alone with you
You make me feel like I am fun again
However far away I will always love you
However long I stay I will always love you
Whatever words I say I will always love you
I will always love you
Whenever I’m alone with you
You make me feel like I am free again
Whenever I’m alone with you
You make me feel like I am clean again
However far away I will always love you
However long I stay I will always love you
Whatever words I say I will always love you
I will always love you

Well whaddya know?!
A Jesuit groupie! Over 10 years of priestly formation and this is what you get.
The impressive riches of Jesuit academia evident for all to see.
To: NYer
Reminds me of the priest who called for the “snuff(ing)” of the gun shop owner “rat”. From Chi-town, I think.
