To paraphrase someone else, capitalism is the worst system of economics—except for every other economic system. There are problem with capitalism, to be sure, but I’ll take a self-correcting system like capitalism any day over the alternatives.

I believe his words were condemning of “unbridled capitalism”. I actually agree with him.

The RC church has always condemned Marxism as it is a godless philosophy that puts the state above everything else.

Capitalism as an economic force was the best thing that could happen to the average citizen in that it freed them to be mobile in both their physical and mental capacities. People were no longer tied to feudalism which deprived the world of so much talent. However, capitalism is a philosophy of economics just like any other phiosophy, and it can be equally oppressive if taken to extremes, when people begin to worship money and the power it gives them. Capitalism when combined with respect for others and the Judeo-Christian outlook in life, is IMHO the best economic system ever to emerge in the world.
