Somebody else apparently doesn't want Peter Akinola to cross the pond:

Lambeth Palace today confirmed the Archbishop of Canterbury has written to the African Primate asking him to cancel his trip to Virginia to carry out the service. A spokesman for Dr Rowan Williams confirmed a letter had been sent to the Archbishop of Nigeria, while it has also been reported that the Episcopal Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori has also appealed to Bishop Akinola not to carry out the installation at Hylton Memorial Chapel in Woodbridge, Virginia.

Thanks to wannabe. But unlike Dr. Williams, Bob Duncan can see the forest for the trees.

Bishop Robert Duncan, moderator of the Anglican Communion Network, will join Anglican leaders from around the world in Woodbridge, VA on May 5 to celebrate the installation of the Rt. Rev. Martyn Minns as the Missionary Bishop of the Convocation of Anglicans in North America (CANA).

Bishop Duncan said he was happy to be a part of this historic moment for CANA. “Martyn and CANA are partners with the Network. Most, if not all, CANA congregations also maintain their affiliation with us. We are fellow bishops of the worldwide Anglican Communion. I am looking forward to being part of this celebration of Martyn’s new ministry.”

Responding to uninformed concerns that have recently been raised about the relationship between CANA and other orthodox Anglicans, Bishop Duncan also made it clear that he has absolute trust in Bishop Minns’ and CANA’s commitment to a unified orthodox Anglican presence in the United States. “CANA has made it quite clear they desire to be a partner, not a competitor, in the ongoing realignment of Anglicanism here. I intend to take them at their word and join them in mission and ministry whenever and wherever possible,” said Bishop Duncan.

It'll be interesting to see what 815 does about that. Duncan has basically flipped off the Episcopal leadership and I can't imagine that they'll take it lying down.

This seems to be a fairly substantial dust-up.

It looks like more than that. I took a short tour of some Anglican sites yesterday and was a bit shocked to see what's gone on in the past three months. For all the years of talk and little to no activity, there seems to be a considerable amount of motion now.

I even saw something on one page that hinted at a split within the CofE, with the new group electing a leader shortly. First I've heard of that, but it was pretty clear that the tear would have to go through, not around, the CofE.

at a split within the CofE

Wow, that would be a substantial development.

I’m a little slow today. What’s the CofE?

What’s the CofE

Church of England - the mother church of the Anglican communion. They still haven't fully digested the liberal imposition of women (or womyn, if you prefer) priests, and the liberals are now trying to cram female bishops down on the body. Folks who would tolerate, but not embrace female priests would be willing to break communion over the latest proposed outrage. As in the US, the liberals are also going for 'married' homosexual priests.
