Is Archbishop Flynn ill? Isn't co-adjutor generally reserved for when the current bishop is sick?
I remember there was a co-adjutor appointed in Dallas and it was considered a slap in the face for the current bishop. Is that the case here?

The case here is that Flynn is a bad, bad, bad bishop. The Holy See can't wait for his retirement. Appointing this amazing bishop coadjutor right now is the Romanitas for telling Flynn "Don't let the doorknob hit you..."
