Some nice things are happening here ping! :)
Something to look forward to.
I didn’t mean to imply that DEVOTIONALS should have NO silliness.
Just depends! LOL.
I’m not a SOMBER OLD MAID SCHOOL MARM sort of devotionalist.
LOL.
I just wanted a more focused, I guess, sort of devotional getting down to nitty gritty applications of each ONE ANOTHER.
No, I think that you are spot on.
I think that’s a very nice idea. You could call it “Limited Silliness - No Pictures”!
(I’m not responsible for the Kiss picture, either!)
No, that leads straight to rye-bread-with-beer recipes, and then we’re in trouble again.
This has nothing to do with syrupy 'niceness', or false ecumenism. Real disagreement among professed Christians exists, on matters of real substance. Professed Christians hold mutually exclusive positions on a whole host of topics ... logically, some of 'us' are WRONG about something. It does no good to try to brush this scandalous fact under the rug.
BUT ... if we can't discuss the matter decently and respectfully; if our discussions invariably lead to mockery, insults, misrepresentations, distortions, rancor and bitterness, then they are worse than useless. They harden peoples' hearts, blind them to the truth, and give scandal to the rest of the world.
By the Grace of God, we can do better than that.
Great idea. Go for it!
It is impossible to keep me totally on topic, you know. Just ask the people on the Long War thread....And even the prayer thread I started back in November gets a little off topic from time to time...
But in seriousness, if we want a specifically Christian Caucus devotional thread, we need to focus on what we all share in common: love of the Lord, and what we all can learn about following in his footsteps in words we can all benefit from without arguing about the truth of it (as opposed to discussing it). Like on this thread.
These things are doable. And we might all gain practice in Christian charity and forbearance, and hear each other a little better.
Add this one because the others can be one sided sometimes.
Very well said and wise.
NO GUINNESS, NO SHEED!
I’ll be outta here in a flash! [burp!...pardon!]
How about a thread linking beer drinkers with food! I’m in!
—By the Grace of God, we can do better than that.—
Amen.
I honestly didn't expect to see that on this thread.
