That post is personally offensive to any Catholic. Sorry you can't appreciate that.
Jack Chick publications are banned from FR. That's a good start. But somehow Jack Chick slanders (paraphrased) are okie-dokie.
This forum is giving FR a very bad reputation.
That post (#43) was as personally offensive to me as a Catholic, as it would be to a Jew if it were addressing a fundamental belief of Judaism, or to a black if it was contemptuous of being black.
Certainly, to a Catholic, post #43 is blasphemous, and we would be lacking in the Holy Spirit's Gift of Fortitude (courage) if we didn't contest it. Problem is, if we try to answer it with reason and civility, it seems to increase the posts like #43. We are caught in a dilemma with the only answer being--stay off the forum.
I agree, sandyeggo. The difficulty lies in the "town square" approach. Even in town squares, hecklers are known for what they are.
And if it is called a "debate", a true debate has rules and hecklers would be escorted out.
I guess so. I rarely see non-Catholics making "Jack Chick" arguments, but not a week goes by where some Catholic doesn't accuse us of using his material.
