It is bad form to end a sentence with a preposition, Izzy. Aside from that, this sentence could also use a verb. Would you like to insert the verb, "are?"
At your church??? Are they one of the more than two hundred translations created from your church's manuscripts???
This is not a sentence, Izzy, but a fragment. I'll have to check the precise number of manuscripts. Is that a number cited in a Jack Chick comic perchance? It sounds as if it is the kind of information used in such a literary form.
I could play golf, perhaps, Izzy! That will take some time to ponder.

Golf? Fun? :)
You'd better polish up your Greek. There's no "y" in epitome.
I guess so. I rarely see non-Catholics making "Jack Chick" arguments, but not a week goes by where some Catholic doesn't accuse us of using his material.
If it walks like a duck............
Bless me Trisham, for I confess to you in all candor that rather than play golf I will probably begin drinking Guinness at noon or...
Zut! The sun HAS crossed the yardarm! I'll be drinking as soon as I can get to the fridge! Thanks for the reminder!
A nice cold stout in honor of you!
Happy Saturday, Colleen!
Francis
Let's not get sidetracked into a "veneration isn't worship" argument, okay?
LOL! Glad to be of help. :)
Then you missed #43.
Huh?
The Yopiods Are Back!
Wish I could join you. :-)
Convince me, a sinner, if you would, that you are being led by the Holy Spirit and that those millions of other non Catholics, mistakenly led by someone or something else and arriving at different conclusions about the Bible, are wrong. Can you show me how? What can you show me?
It's just not that difficult regardless of what your magisterium has told you.
We look to the Bible and we compare verse to verse since Scripture interprets Scripture. In the Bible we find that God created the world and all things therein. We find that all things are by Christ and for Christ and through Christ. We find that all glory belongs only to the Lord. We find that man cannot save himself; and that only Christ's atonement can save anyone. We find that Christ came to acquit sinners of their transgressions and that Christ prays for them, and only them because they are His.
"I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them." -- John 17:9-10
And as if that weren't enough mercy, we further find that God has graciously given believers the Holy Spirit who will lead them in all righteousness.
We learn that if we believe Christ paid for ALL of our sins, that He died and was resurrected as one member of the Trinity in order for us to spend eternity with Him, that in itself is evidence that the Good News is true. Because when our minds and hearts have been quickened by the Holy Spirit to know God and discern spiritual things, our lives are vastly improved. Our fear in the future is gone. Our faith in His word gives us courage and energy and confidence to further spread the Gospel and live according to His will.
Scripture also tells us we are known by our fruit. If the fruit is good, the tree from which it grew is good.
So we look to our lives and see the good fruit of our faith in Jesus Christ and that confirms our presupposition that the Bible is true and every word meant for our benefit.
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." -- 2 Timothy 3:16-17"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
As believers, we now happily repent, obey, submit and glorify God. Why?
"For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure." -- Philippians 2:13
And finally, as Protestant Christians, we are taught to take VERY SERIOUSLY the instruction that...
"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" -- 1 Timothy 2:5
To know this truth is to thus evade the terrible errors of Rome who presumes to share God's glory with Mary and various saints and a priestcraft and extraneous sacramental requirements.
Untangle yourself, Mark. Receive the liberty that is Christ risen.
And by the leading of the Holy Spirit, you, too, will be able to answer God correctly...
He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?" -- Isaiah 44:19-20"...shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?
No, there is not a lie in my right hand, and I thank God for preventing me from falling down to the stock of a tree.
Kneel to none but Christ.
No, I didn't - Iscool makes no reference to Jack Chick whatsover, unless it's a direct visual reference to some Chick tract that I'm unfamiliar with.
Iscool, were you referencing a Chick tract?
What's that I read in the tagline in #4? "Words mean things?"
A difference in approach. You compare scripture with scripture to arrive at a conclusion. In a comparatively short amount of time, too. We use the whole Bible. Our Church has invested two millennia in furthering our understanding of God.
Nice to see that the voices have given you insight at a greater level of understanding and much quicker than us. A distinct advantage, I suppose.
But if it walks like a duck....
