Judges 19:23-24: "No, my brothers; do not be so wicked. Since this man is my guest, do not commit this crime. Rather let me bring out my maiden daughter or his concubine. Ravish them, or do whatever you want with them; but against the man you must not commit this wanton crime."
Homosexuality is such a crime in God's eye that it is better to let your virgin daughter be raped by strangers than to allow a homosexual act. I've always had trouble with these verses. I would never let my daughter be treated in this way.
The relative preference here is a function of the middle eastern law of hospitality. A host would even give his life to prevent harm to a guest. Scottish Highlanders had a similar law of hospitality (which is why the Glencoe Massacre was such a shocking crime to them.) This law seems to obtain wherever climate conditions are hostile and a traveler might die if not given hospitality.
"Homosexuality is such a crime in God's eye that it is better to let your virgin daughter be raped by strangers than to allow a homosexual act. I've always had trouble with these verses. I would never let my daughter be treated in this way."
God didn't tell him to offer this bargain, it was Lot's choice.
