In my view, it doesn’t matter whether we strive to retain our personalities or whether we strive to become transparent in Him. He accepts us either way.

I do see God as the master artist who doesn’t mix all the colors on His palette into one, but rather uses each color in contrast to the other to create His living masterpiece.

But with regard to New Jerusalem foundation gemstones not including a diamond (clarity) - the bottom foundation gemstone is Jasper which is green or clear. And the clear Jasper is the variety of Jasper being spoken of in Revelation. The Jasper is also used in Revelation 4:3 to describe the Throne of God:

And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, Having the glory of God: and her light [was] like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; - Rev 21:10-11

And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and [there was] a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. – Rev 4:3

BTW, the Sardine stone is blood red

New Jerusalem itself – including its streets are pure gold, like clear glass according to Revelation 21.

From all of these, my leading in the Spirit is that striving to be transparent in Him is ok, too. And I will continue to do so.

Wouldn't want to hinder or detour you from anything Holy Spirit impressed on you as worthwhile! Goodness!

And, I actually have some affinity for that perspective myself.

It's just that in the current discussion . . . the robot thing seems to have carried it to an absurd length--TO ME.

And, FOR ME, to an unBiblical length. Christ Died for us to have MORE FREEDOM IN HIM . . . from the slavery of sin . . . NOT less freedom IN HIM with NO personality and NO choices as personalities.

imho, of course.

BTW, Thanks for the color link.

In terms of striving . . . has been a PROBLEM much of my life. Seems to me, Most of Scripture--at least NT-wise--exhorts AGAINST striving.

Maybe it's a tricky concept.

Then again, maybe we just aren't to do it, period. "Let Go and Let God"

But how do we "Let Go and Let God" and still be responsible for what we are responsible for and NOT strive?

Oh! that WE could be transparent in EACH OTHER NOW... as it will be when language is no longer an issue.. Diamond then will be ultra metaphorical.. When words or even personal NAMES are not needed.. OH! only if I had the need or desire to explain "merging" (BOW) to these fine folks.. however I do not..

Sounds good, but the "ideal" state so many of us hope to attain is to become completely transparent, so as not to be even noticed, in order for God's light to shine through us unimpeded. In other words, we become invisible. So, it really will not matter what color He assigned us to begin with. We will be indistinguishable from the air (our egos will cease to exist, and with them our personalities too).

Thank you so much Alamo-Girl, for pinging me to your interesting comments, Scripturally based and filled with Wisdom from Above, and to this discussion.

I believe the first disciples themselves are a grand and accurate picture and a proof of your assertion. See how different in personality Peter is from John, yet Christ chose both and used each to great effect - they are still speaking. Look at Stephen compared to James, or Paul in relation to Lydia, Matthew to Thomas.

O! The Creator God is a God of variety as well as of unity. The greatest composition among human creatures whether in music or word or paints must have a multiplicity of notes or words or colors, yet all together used toward the one message of a song or story or painting are seen as one whole.

"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts," mused Aristotle. Indeed, we can look at or perceive each part separately, and do - the wind section distinct from the brass, the yellow in contrast to the red, the one glowing phrase that may stand out from a piece of writing - "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times," for example. Yet who is more content with the painting White on White - should this very post be composed of only one letter? - than with gazing upon any composition by Monet, or to have harmony without the melody? Who, in admiring a poem or song would, after the first reading, go back to a single line or single glowing word, and not always think of it in the beauty of its setting? It is in the context of the whole that the parts are made lovely. The line above from Dickens is often quoted, yet is most sublime to the one who knows the story that follows it.

The talent of a Fred Astaire is in the many taps together and every move - one tap or dance step by itself is only lovely because we know what happens when all are put together by the master!

So it is and so it remains. The Lord of All Himself is Elohim - Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and we are made in His image. It is no wonder then that we who are His creatures, and all that we create as men, follows this divine order!

When God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone," He added not another Adam, but his Eve. Amen.
