What I meant was the way the Irish calculated Easter and did the tonsure (sp?) was more in line with the Eastern way of doing things than the Western. And the new English Christians used that as an excuse to keep doing what they had been doing before they were Christian, beat up on their neighbors. Bede, in the Church History of the English Peoples talks about it quite a bit. The various English tribal kings used the differences as an excuse to wage war on the Scotts and Irish, who I imagine did likewise to an extent.

What I meant was if you were trying to a case for St. Patrick being anything other than Catholic, it would have to be Orthodox.

The author of "How the Irish Saved Civilization" (Mr. Cahill?) seemed to think the Irish Church was Pelagian.
