Tom is one of my "autism-spectrum" boys - i.e., the really weird ones - and using the bathroom was a difficult concept for him. At least he never got the idea that he was a Greek hermit, like Pat. "I'm not going to eat supper, thank you. That is chicken. We will eat dry bread."
Yep, my boy is borderline Asperger's, he's rather odd. But the rest of the family is highly eccentric, so sometimes it's hard to tell the difference. Really the only difference I think is that most of our family have the sense to play along in school . . . my son has never figured that one out, he gives the teachers a really hard time. Fortunately we found a small private school that has his number, and he's really started to bloom there.
