No matter who I get in line for, I always wind up with our Parochial Vicar.

I was in one line for three priests at the Penance Service - one of whom was the Cardinal . . . when up the aisle, late (his plane was late) comes panting the parochial vicar, doing up his collar and putting on his stole as he ran . . . and yes, when I got to the head of the line it was his turn!

He gives the most amazing penances . . . some are pretty difficult to perform . . . take days or even weeks to get done . . .

My pastor isn't like that at all! We have separate lines for the different priests at our penance services, so if you get in a slow line, you're stuck.

After four years, I know who the talkative priests are, so I can avoid them if I'm in a hurry. I usually make an appointment on a weekday with our pastor, for myself and the four relevant children. Der Prinz sometimes goes to the penance services; his sins are up to him!
