We have those penance services -- they're great!

Folks come from all over, the lines are out the door -- like you say, priests in every nook and cranny. Monsignor knows everybody, and he always rounds up a dozen priests or so from heaven knows where. Last Advent we had a CARDINAL show up, apparently he was in town visiting and somebody (bet it was Monsignor) said to come along and help hear confessions. His line was really really long - it isn't every day you get a cardinal hearing your confession . . . but what do you say, "Bless me Your Eminence for I have sinned" . . . ?

I like to call all clerical figures "Father." Bishop Slattery in Tulsa said that was what he preferred.
