But most likely, one, or all, of the 25 people in the room whom the very nice lady was leading in spontaneous worship is what we hear (or did they dub out all those "off-key" voices and dub in "angels"?)

It doesn't say the people were singing....I have been used to bring forth a prophetic song in our church at times...no one in the congregation sings with me at these times. So just because they were there doesn't necessarily mean they were part of the prophetic song.
We have, at times, heard violins being played during our worship practices...there are no violins. We have been singing and have heard the heavenly choir fill the room...there are 9 people on our team...Far more sound than we are capable of making.
I have been leading worship and seen a mist fill the room....the heaviness of the Lord is tangible. We have had some incredible experiences during worship. Jesus is alive and well and still making His presence known to us. If we can touch the angel choirs and have them join us in song..all the better.
Suppressed?? You're perfectly free to sing songs from 1789 and 1912 all day long if you like. It's a free country. Just because I don't want to sing (or frankly, hear) them in no way means "your music" is being "suppressed."
Nor does it give you license to denigrate others who don't particularly get anything out of the music you personally revere, and who prefer something more in keeping with the culture of the 21st century.
If some of these newer songs are worthy, they will join the canon.

As far as gaining acceptance, a lot of new music has already gained acceptance. In fact, from where I'm sitting, the old music from 1912 is likely to die with you.

I would still maintain that the best Catholic music HAS been supressed, much of it thrown away, and if it really was a matter of personal tastes and not an attempt to silence those who don't want to lose our heritage, I wouldn't object.

You can NOT be serious......you really do need to educate yourself about the Catholic Church teachings to comment on them without sounding like a fool.

This is how they spelled Jesus? It's bizarre because our language today seems so much more Latinate than that passage, but you can clearly see the latin in it. Perhaps when the French got mixed up in the English it returned it to its Romance Language roots.
Actually, I DO like some newer Christian music, I attended an alternative church for several years alongside my traditional church attendance. I particularly like the edgier, harder stuff because I think the "folk mass" style had passed its prime by 1980.
It seems insane, but in the Catholic church we're having to do research and dig and scrabble to find copies of music that was in use just forty years ago, and given the means of recording it then it seems unconcionable that it all could have been thrown away. That's what I mean by supressed.
My conservative philosophy can be summed up by "Question everything, preserve the good." I believe that novelty for its own sake is very, very dangerous to us and to our way of life and that it has nearly destroyed us.

I would agree with you that novelty simply for the sake of novelty can be a bad thing, particularly when people make the assumption that "new" or "different" necessarily implies inherently "better." Often, it isn't. This is evident throughout our culture and especially when it comes to "family structure."
Modern worship music is often taken from scripture. The worship in our church was done by the children today and it was amazing. God does NOT fit into our little box. He's about doing what HE wants to do in our churches through the music HE puts on people's hearts. I've been in Catholic churches and they know nothing about harmony from what I can hear. The music doesn't inspire worship from what I've seen and heard. Baptists sing hymns better than almost anyone and spirit-filled churches sing worship songs better than most anyone. And we like hymns, too! Thank God he's not as persnickety as some folks here. God is present in many kinds of music.
I love sacred music and I love singing it, but there's a lot of other good music out there as well. I love singing sacred melodies in our church because we need to hear them. They're very anointed.
