Why would a college professor put cheesy bumper stickers on her office door? Isn't that a priori evidence of the kind of shallow thinking that merits denial of tenure? ;)

Simple remedy. Sneak by and place an NRA and Exodus International sticker on their doors. A Jews For Jesus sticker would probably be pretty funny too, then you could tweak thier liberal anti-semite, anti-Christian bigotry nerve!

. . . Associate Professor of Religion and Ethics. . . It has been my observation that professors of religion and ethics are not especially religious or ethical.
To: Diago
Just for reference (and sadly most consumers, that is, college students, don't understand this distinction):
"Theology" as an academic discipline in a Catholic university refers specifically to Catholic theology. This includes the study of all religious subjects that Catholic theology might hold in common with the theologies of other religions.
"Religion" or "Religious Studies" is the study of religion since theology courses are applicable to Catholic formation, but religion courses are not, then any material suitable for theology OR religion would be presented in theology. Hence, "Religion" is only that which is not permissible in a theology course; in other words, it is a study purely of false religion, although the professors of Religion almost certainly disagree with that assessment which must be imposed apon them by the Church.
IOW, since the study of religion which is true is Catholic theology, a course in religion is necessarily purely heresy.

That is certainly a mature statement...I have heard many a college STUDENT make remarks of that kind.
