The American Anglican Council can handle contributions to the Legal Defense Fund for orthodox Episcopal/Anglican churches under threat. Here are instructions and some details.
There are several ways to contribute:
Contribute by Credit Card
Select Contribute from the AAC Home Page; this option does not allow for specifying the group of churches you want to help
Call the AAC Office and make a credit card donation by speaking with staff; this way you can share your concern for a group of churches you want to help.
Mail a Check to the AAC
On the memo line state that the contribution is for the Legal Defense Fund
If your intent is to support a particular group of churches, add that to the memo line
IRS Regulations
If it is important that your gift to the Legal Defense Fund is tax deductible, you cannot limit the distribution to a specific church
General contributions to the Legal Defense Fund are tax deductible
Criteria for Distribution of these Funds:
Legal expenses are likely to be significant. General distribution decisions will be made after consultation with the parishes being sued, by factoring in the urgency of the need for funding, and resources available to the congregations under threat.
