I tend to agree with Tommydale here... he's just adding "in terms of treatment of Christians" -- using the idea of relative 'moderation' to cover his goof up. Was it indeed a 'goof' or deliberate? Or did he really mean what he said? You shouldn't have to parse what a preacher of the Word says. It should be (with rare exceptions) crystal clear. Rick Warren is at best a sloppy communicator, at worst, a false teacher, and in my opinion, he's quite a lot of both.
