There are large numbers of Catholic democrats because they came from democrat families, since a lot of Catholics were from working class Irish and Italian families.
However, right now in my parish most of the people are Republican, judging from the numbers of Bush/Cheney stickers on cars during the last election.>p>I also find this article pretty offensive, in that the premise is that we "neo-Catholics" (an insulting term like Neocons) don't have our heads screwed on straight.
I would like to know why people feel the need to post stuff like this. My conversion was my business and I haven't been all over this forum pointing out the failings of Protestant churches and how there is something wrong with people for remaining in their Protestant churches.
If nothing else, articles like this are simply bad manners.
I do belive the trend in the Catholic church is toward the Republican party but the marriage between the Catholic church and Democrat party is difficult to change. By no means do I mean all Catholics are Democrats. I mean that those who are still there are probably still there because of the Democrat tradition.
