The smallest heresy opens the door to the biggest heresy.

Once you have in any way subordinated the truth to some concept of "reasonableness", there's no way to draw a line anywhere. Lines exist to prevent people from doing what they want to do. If you ordain women because it seems "discriminatory" to prevent women from being priests, then you have no basis on which to deny ANY person who professes to have faith any desire they claim can be reconciled to that faith.

And if you have a church that allows anybody to do whatever their heart desires, you have given yourselves over to the desires of your hearts, which is most decidedly the way to apostasy.
