Wow. You were in grade school in the 50's.
My oldest is in the 55 year range.
Yes, we said a lot of rosaries in those days. And we still do.
It may take a long time for those rosaries to bear fruit--God has his own time and his own plan. But they were never prayed in vain, nor are they to this day.
As for me and my house, we have prayed years of rosaries--those wonderful 15 meditations on the life ,death and resurrection of Our Lord. It is the daily meditation on these mysteries of Christ Jesus that keep our minds and hearts directed to Him.
It is something you shouldn't feel compelled to deride and hold in contempt.
Since you have left the Church, I'll offer my rosary meditation for you tonight, that you may be inclined to repent of this kind of ridicule, which is unworthy of the Christian walk.
Read your Bible instead of the rosary --- if you are going to do it on my behalf, and while you are reading it see if you can find any scripture for the immaculate conception, perpetual virginity, or bodily assumption.
