There's a difference. Yes some Catholics have unknowingly done this. However, and the Vatican was clear about this very recently, it is the policy of the Catholic church to reject these folks. The protestant policies are not.
All churches err in practice because all people have a sinful nature. The difference is that protestant churches are modifying or ignoring to word of God and setting up church rules that are an affront to God. They are promoting abomination in the name of God. They are telling folks that God's law is either subjective or different from what they really know it is. That is the wolves stealing the sheep away.

Oh please. There are a host of websites dedicated to these things. There is no rejection. They simply ignore the problem.
