It doesn't say that God demanded sacrifice. So you see a difference in meaning between "demanded" and "commanded?"
"No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father." -- John 10:18

you see a difference in meaning between "demanded" and "commanded?" No, -- I don't see either in John 10:18 where Christ speaks of His power to offer the Sacrifice of the Cross, and specifically says that He does so "of Himself".
I will have mercy and not sacrifice (Mt 9:13, 12:7)
