There is nothing in that particular discourse that sets it apart from the rest of the scripture.

The events of John 6 are not the Last Supper. But the words spoken by Jesus at that time are Spiritual Truth which explains His command at the Last Supper to eat the bread and drink the wine in remembrance of Him.

John 6 explains that we are to eat His flesh and drink His blood really - not literally, not figuratively - but really.

This is an inaccurate rephrasing. He never said "eat the bread and drink the wine in remembrance of Him". He said:

Take ye, and eat. This is my body (Mt 26:26)

Take ye. This is my body (Mk 14:22)

This is my body, which is given for you. Do this for a commemoration of me (Lk 22:19)

we are to eat His flesh and drink His blood really - not literally, not figuratively - but really.

We are to eat his body really and the relevant scriptures are to be taken literally. If He wanted to say "this bread represents my body" He would have.
