So, at which point did the supernatural conception become a "natural" pregnancy and progressed to a "natural" delivery?
It's no problem if you want to disagree with what he said, but the fact remains that he said it. :)
+Ignatius was struggling with cults that denied Christ's humanity and he was doing his best to convince them of that.
This was extrtaiblical stuff. +Ignatius was not there when it happened, so he was giving them his version of it with a clear goal, purpose, interest and desire of convincing them that Christ was not only true God but true man as well.
The recond shows that it is not just I who disagrees with him as much as I understand his motivation, but the entire Church since then.
Lest it be misunderstood, the sentence in #1359 "+Ignatius was struggling with cults that denied Christ's humanity and he was doing his best to convince them of that" was meant to end with "it" (meaning His humanity). +Ignatius was trying his best to convince those who denied His humanity that He was indeed true God and true man, equally divine and equally human.
Well, conception is an event that takes place in an instant. I don't think of it as a process. Once the Spirit touched Mary's egg, my opinion is that the rest was a normal pregnancy.
The record shows that it is not just I who disagrees with [Ignatius on this issue] as much as I understand his motivation, but the entire Church since then.
I can appreciate his motives as well, and I realize that his views on this subject are by no means Apostolic teaching today.
