Never heard of this author before, but that quote in itself is perfectly Catholic. To be Catholic one must acknowledge that works of free will, under grace, contribute to faith and hence to salvation; there are many ways to express it.

You're misreading Lurcaris. He said that good works are the fruit of salvation, not a means to it.

And for that belief, he was murdered.

Faith doesn't lead to salvation, faith in the Person and work of Christ leads to salvation.

One doesn't need to add to his faith to be saved, but have the right object to put ones faith in.

Growth in faith (through the word of God), leads to fruit bearing which shows in whom one has believed (Ja.2)
