One view of creation and the big bang is of broken symmetry, a geometric concept.

It is more of a way of looking at it than it is a testable hypothesis.

It is not a matter of hypothesis but reason. At bottom are these two statements related to causation:

In the absence of time, events cannot occur.

In the absence of space, things cannot exist.

Space and time (dimensions) are both required for all physical causation including broken symmetry, brane collisions, etc. Energy and matter cannot exist in the absence of space/time.
