Communion with heretics is a dangerous thing, HS. Known, close connections to a group of uneducated peasant descended Orthodoxers, however, will get you thrown out of some of the best clubs in NY or DC! Tough choice, that! :)
I rememeber the previous generation saying that Lutherans (many of whom were actual Dakota/Nebraska, etc. peasants, let alone descendants of them) could not be admitted to the same clubs. (We still had a pig farmer on the ELCA sexuality commission, who was the most sensible person in it. Those of us who know the history of Serbian pig farmers and their accomplishments enjoyed that one, too!!!)
Nowadays, it is only orthodox and conservative Lutherans (with Orthodox connections or not) who cannot get into those clubs. Mark Hanson and his ilk are welcome in any of them!
