Brown University is a Catholic University. Maybe they only want Catholic groups to be part of the University. Just a thought. I don't think I would try to open a Catholic Group on Oral Roberts University or Liberty University without worrying about getting killed. Same applies for private Universities. I don't know why people are upset about this. Start Evangelical groups at Evangelical colleges....problem solved.

Brown University is not and has never been a Catholic University. It was founded by a Baptist minister named James Manning and a Congregationalist lay man named James Stiles in 1764.

Brown University was founded by Baptists.
It is decidedly not Catholic.
The Catholics have their own lunatic institutions, although not in the Ivy League.
