In exploring the website of The Falls Church (from whose rector, the Rev. John Yates, came that tremendous sermon on "Discernment and Holy Communion"), I came across the report of the rector and vestry to the congregation, titled Can Two Walk Together, Except They Be Agreed?. This has no doubt been reviewed and linked to elsewhere long ago, but I was impressed yet again by the clarity of vision shown by the leaders of The Falls Church. Note what they sum up as the real issue facing the Episcopal Church:

Many are understandably weary of the controversies about sexual morality that have divided our denomination over the last few years. Some may wonder if the subject is important enough to justify the objections that we raise. Sexual morality is indeed important, but it is not the main issue that is at stake. Rather, the main issue over which Episcopalians are divided is the authority and reliability of the truth that God has revealed in His Word as Christians have always understood it. The currently conspicuous symptom of our denomination’s long slide from Biblical orthodoxy is false teaching about the issue of homosexuality, but the underlying issue is a lack of submission to God’s will as expressed in His Word, the Bible.
