A split in the Anglican Church is inevitable with divisions between liberal and conservative factions "irreconcilable", a senior bishop says. The Bishop of Rochester, the Rt Rev Michael Nazir-Ali, told the Daily Telegraph there were "virtually two religions" in the Church.

Bishop Nazir-Ali is very highly regarded in England, having been on the short list to become Archbishop of Canterbury a few years back and having recently chaired the C of E's task force on the question of whether or not to ordain women as bishops. That such a highly placed observer of the Anglican scene has come to this conclusion speaks volumes. (Hat tip to Newbie Anglican)
"Anglicans are used to fudging things sometimes but I think this is a matter of such seriousness that fudge won't do," Bishop Nazir-Ali told the Telegraph, in an interview while a guest at the convention. "Sometimes you have to recognise that there are two irreconcilable positions and you have to choose between them. ... The right choice is in line with the Bible and the Church's teaching down the ages, not some new-fangled religion we have invented to respond to the 21st Century."

We were blessed here at Grove City College to have Bishop John Harvey, the retired Bishop of East Newfoundland, visit us for a few days and give several talks. For those not aware, he is the Canadian acting in the same position that Bishop Duncan is in the US. The impression that he gave is that if it doesn't happen sooner, everything will hit the fan at Lambeth when invitations go out, and everyone finds out who is or isn't invited.
He also mentioned how it seems that the ECUSA and ACC don't seem to mind the idea of "Walking Apart."
I can't even imagine how difficult it must be to be an Anglican right now. You guys have my prayers.
