True. Sin should not be broadly defined. It should be more broadly and generally addressed as far as civil government and social norms are concerned. But the church should take it from there (well, not necessarily "from there," but beyond there...) and with the Word of God pierce right down into the human heart with its definition of sin. The church and especially its leaders should be so busy dealing with its own sin at the heart level that it cannot be caught in such an embarrassing scandal. There is no excuse for this sort of thing festering in the heart of a Christian pastor to the point of becoming not only an action, but a long term part of his life. Will he accept the shame he deserves as part of a sign to the world of what true repentance looks like? Will the church show the world that it loves God's righteous truths? We shall see.
