The Rev. Daniel McGrath: "Thou Shalt Not Steal."

From the Rev. Daniel McGrath of St. Bartholomew's Anglican in Washington State, we have the next in his sermon series on the Decalogue, Thou Shalt Not Steal. This is another fine sermon from Fr. McGrath, and note what he says about the point of of studying the Ten Commandments:

The point of going through the Decalogue is not to become so guilt-ridden that we become paralyzed and we give up on doing what is right. Nor is it to say, "Well, everyone sins, so it's not a geat deal." Rather, as our liturgy teaches us, we are to seek healing by asking God's mercy for our failings, and God's strength to help us do better in future.
In a very real sense this is part of the Summary of the Law as well: that we love God enough to ask Him for His mercy and His assistance to help us love others more. Thanks to Fr. McGrath for giving us these things to ponder.
