Boy you opened up a can of worms with this thread lol. Time to get the popcorn. For the record, Scott Hahn books and tapes were a major part of my conversion
The author could simply have said "I don't like Scott Hahn" and left it at that. The article is long on vitriol and short on content. I sincerely hope that it is not characteristic of Calvinist thought.
And continue to be for so many others who are seeking to learn more about the Catholic Church.
And, for catholics, Dr. Hahn has put together an outstanding web site on Holy Scripture.
totally agreed... the author of this article is so full of hate he can't see straight. Dr. Hahn was a very large contributor to my understanding of the Catholic Church and, as the saying goes, "those who truly understand her cannot remain apart from her and those who hate her only hate what they imagine her to be..."
God bless Dr. Hahn and his lovely family. He has boldly sought the Truth yet he has remained charitable and gracious for his Evangelical roots... one would only hope a fellow believer could return the courtesy. Sheesh...
I found them after I was already in OCIA but they made things much clearer. I do love reading his stuff.
His Rome Sweet Home directly influenced my conversion, too. There were so many things I recognized in my own life/ church experiences.
Great conversion story. I love those conversion stories.
For the record, Scott Hahn, Gerry Matatics, and Steve Wood (I don't believe mentioned in the article) were instrumental in our defection AWAY from the church!
After too many close encounters with homosexual priests (can you say Gilbert Gothe?), we recognized that we had NEVER - not once - encountered anyone with their zeal and love for the Lord. Never. Ever. If the Holy Spirit was alive ånd active in any of the Catholic Churches I attended, He was doing a darn good job of hiding.
And please don't tell me I don't know the faith. I do. Much more than the average Sunday Catholic. I just don' t believe it.
