The Russian Orthodox Church, which broke ties with ECUSA following the consecration of Gene Robinson as bishop of New Hampshire in 2003, has offered to resume relations with the eight dioceses that have requested alternative primatial oversight. As Metropolitan Kirill writes to Bishop Duncan, moderator of the Network, The Russian Orthodox Church supports your act and expresses willingness to restore relations with your diocese. And who needs links with them? One could just as well do the links with the Chinese "patriotic catholic church". One is as good as the other.
Excuse me?
Pretty simple. A religion is to be judged by the kind of society [civilization] it tends to favor and promote [by their fruit shall ye know them] - i.e. by its sociological aspects, and not by the immaterial details like "filioque', whether its clergy shaves or not, the number of daily prayers and whether the ritual headgear resembles an overturned chamberpot or not. And on these - really important - parameters Chinese "patriotic church" is indeed as good [or as bad] as the orthodox one.
Take a good long look at American society and tell me the church in this country is healthy - I dare you to prove it.
"healthy"? - Not particularly. Still, dealing with the despotism carriers ought to be a knee-jerk "no".
