Continuing with his series on the Decalogue, the Rev. Daniel McGrath of St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church in Washington State gives us the sermon Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery. This is another well-done sermon from Fr. McGrath, and I really liked this point:
The standards of behavior that the Church sets before us are very high standards indeed in today's world, but they should be considered "normal" by us. Our bodies are created for Holiness, and our relationships must be Holy. The good desires that have been given us by God are to be used rightly within God's design. When we do otherwise, then we do that which is evil in God's sight; we engage in self-destructive behaviors and bring upon ourselves much sorrow, brokenheartedness and even sickness.Indeed, this can be said about all sin; if we are to strive for holiness, the standards we must live by are those established by Scripture and taught to us by the Church. May we all strive for holiness in word and deed.
Great sermon, S.
Amen!
