"As a follower of Jesus Christ I cannot:
1. become a pagan secularist. Nor can I...
2. abandon the apostolic ministry and sacraments by associating myself with one of the Protestant sects."

Nice comparison! Pagan/Protestant!!!

Did he really say: "As a follower of Jesus Christ I cannot... associat[e] myself with one of the Protestant sects."???

Sounds like a muddleheaded, sentimental religionist.

And, by the way, I can ASSURE him he CAN be a follower of Jesus Christ and a Protestant.

I believe it is quite possible to parse this statement in a way that does not equate "pagan secularist" with "Protestant sect". If you think otherwise, I invite you to say so.
