I guess you didn't bother to read what you found there? No mention of Christ dying as a substitute for us, for our sins? How come you can't find it at all, and I can find it in the second paragraph?

Of course I read it and I have several Catholics support it. Apparently you must have stopped at the first several paragraphs. I would suggest you read the entire doctrine. Please note these excerpts about the Catholic view of the Atonement:

The historical view was later "refined" by St. Anselm, whose name pops up quite a bit. Even New Advent states that twelve hundred years of teaching wasn't really quite clear until Anselm had an idea.
