Ok, then when Aaron placed his rod into the Nile, did the river just turn red, was it an illusion, or did God actually and literally turn the river into blood?

Read the passage carefully and then let me know.

It is clear to me that if you say that it was anything other than literal blood, then you are calling God a liar. But we've got people on this thread who shrug it off as some kind of mass hallucination.

I am not a strict literalist. If you try to make everything literal, you will create a monster. Trying to symbolize everything will yield the same results. We need to learn to discern. I am beginning to think that most things are both literal and symbolic.

Your example from Revelation 6 The moon became as blood, leaves some room for discussion.
