Because Christ himself told us that only the Father himself knows when the day of judgement will come - our job is to be ready - every day - every generation - every man - every family.

= = = =

True. Certainly the import is to walk close with The Lord and be ready constantly.

HOWEVER, I get weary of folks who throw that verse about and neglect to ALSO NOTE IN THE SAME PASSAGE AREA CHRIST'S EXHORTATION TO WATCH, BE AWARE, ALERT, INTERPRET THE SIGNS WELL AND BE READY FOR HIS RETURN. And, not knowing the day or hour does NOT include knowing the era, year or season or even month.

Strictly speaking.

My Bible - in Mark 13 - says nothing about interpreting signs. Nor does the similar passage in Matthew 24.

If you choose to 'speak strictly' because Jesus, in using language to make it clear that no one knows when the Son of Man will return, said no one knows the hour nor the day - and think that somehow he left it open for someone to divine the week or month or year - then I wish you luck in your futile endeavors.

I am 100% for study of the Bible - Old and New Testaments alike. I would simply shy away from anyone calimaing knowledge of things that can only be known by the divine.
