IMHO the best approach to the resolution of this disagreement about Greeley and Bernardin, as least as it applies to activities in Chicago, is to solve the murder of Frank Pellegrini. Does anyone know if it is still being actively investigated ? While Greeley claims to know, I suspect that Cardinal George either knows or has suspicions.
Independently of all this, justice demands that the murder be solved. It was ignored by the police at the time because it was another "gay murder". Investigation and solution would really open up a can of worms - but with real evidence rather than just innuendo.
