Thanks. You are quite welcome.
Well, tell him the "critical thinking" part us pretty good :)
END TIMES/PROPHECY PING LIST
I THINK
this is purged of all those who asked to be off it. And, I have successfully labeled it on my flash drives where it's stored! Wheee
Please let me know if you wish to be on or off this list.
Not only are Jehovah and Allah not the same God.
Allah is not God at all.
I think he did, too.
He'll likely be reading the thread. I sent him the URL. He's just disinclined to get into the fray again after having been in many such with mixed results. I think the contentiousness drug him down and he just felt led to bow out.
Thanks much,
Well put.
Though perhaps in his own eyes? LOL.
Actually, demons seem to know more Bible than many Christians.
A gift, just for you.
Quite a list you have on your home page! Thanks for adding me.
Have always wanted to produce enough evidence for me to be convicted of doing the honorable Godly thing in the END TIMES!
Thanks.
Mad Moe is the tool of the devil.
No it wasn't. "Allah" means literally, "The God." There was a pagan moon goddess named Allat -- but that meant, literally, "The Goddess."
Allah is related to the Hebrew "El" or "Elohim" and other variations in the Bible. There is an occasional use of "Eloah," particularly later in the Bible, such as in the Book of Job, which appears to be further on the etymological way to "Allah"
THAT'S VERY CERTAIN!
THANKS.
My friend would argue with you.
He went backwards and forwards over all that etymological stuff for months and months.
I suppose it would end up which 'experts' one most trusted.
Given my layman's status, I'll side with my friend.
In one perspective it is a moot point. As an object of faith, if we place our believe in God through the protocol He provides, then He is the object of our thinking. The name might differ in time and place. There are over 350 names in Scripture for our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. Just as it is possible for a believer to use one of those names as opposed to another believer using a different name for the same object, and exercising faith through Him in that belief, they are indeed of the same Church. Likewise, it is POSSIBLE, one may speak of Allah and of Jehovah, and exercise a same faith.
It is also, though very likely, for those who seek a counterfeit God, to develop a false religion, and mimic many aspects of Scripture, under the urgings of fallen angels, centuries after our Lord's ascension, and contrive a very false God. I have little doubt that many references to Allah are indeed in reference to Satan as a malevolent deceiver or possibly a lessor fallen angel.
Interestingly, there is only one name under heaven for our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. Those who deny Him, deny God.
For example, the Greek mythical figure/fertility god, "Adonis," comes from the same root word as "Adonai," another common Hebrew term for God -- perhaps the most commonly used, given the number of prayers that start "Baruch atah Adonai...." Both names come a root term meaning, "lord." However, no one is going to mistake Adonis for Adonai.
By way of counterexample, El and Adonai are both names for God in Hebrew, even though they do not share common etymological origins.
Whether God and Allah are the same is not a question of etyolology -- though it is of intellectual interest. It's a question of theology. Even if they had the exact same names, they might not be the same god.
I pretty much agree with you, actually.
I suspect that there will be many who call Almighty God Allah AND WHO CONSTRUE HIM to be The Almighty God of The Bible . . . whom God will grant grace on the matter and not consider it a big deal.
On the other hand . . . those who know better . . . .
Certainly God considers and weighs heavily the attitude of the heart of each individual.
Please see my reply to Cvengr above.
I largely agree. Thanks.
Unrelated...
What do you make of Romans 13:1 ?
Mostly that God is a God of order.
Yet there was a time when Peter said . . .
should we obey God, or man?
Clearly indicating that when there's a conflict, one is to obey God.
