Kids Kill In Violent Christian Videogame

Evangelical videogame makers are hoping to capture a mainstream audience with a new game that leaves corpses piled on the streets of New York.

The Rapture is headed for New York City, and just in time for Christmas. In Left Behind: Eternal Forces, a Christian-themed videogame due out this October, the New York skyline smolders during the End of Days, the faithful have been called up to heaven, and the remaining New Yorkers are engaged in an epic clash between the Tribulation Forces and the Antichrist's army of Global Community Peacekeepers (aka UN Peacekeepers).

Evangelical videogame makers are praying that Eternal Forces will finally enable them to tap into the $25 billion global videogame market. They hope their "Christian" values-themed game will capture the same audience that has made bestsellers out of violent standards like Grand Theft Auto and Halo 2.

Thank you for pointing that out, but when I entered the title into the FR search it didn't come up so I did not know that it had been previously reported on here. The title in this article is very different from the titles you gave so that must be why it came up blank when I searched it.

I try my best to be careful not to duplicate articles, but I guess some are just going to slip through the cracks.

No problem. I always find these discussions interesting.

Earlier, you asked if I was a Word of Faith guy. To some extent in some ways, I agree with that philosophy, and in many ways I think it's off base. I'm more of a dominion/ postmillenial thinker. (Or reconstructionist, as some call it.) More than anything else, I find myself drawn to the modern prophetic/apostolic wave, particularly the stuff that scares most traditional pastors. There's nothing better than challenging the lame, ineffective approach to Christianity that's resulted in the anemic junk we have today. No wonder so many unbelievers have chosen to ignore the church. I am into observable results- miracles, answered prayer, permanent change in people's lives.

This is exactly why we have a paintball field at our church. We get the nastiest, most negative kids you can imagine, and they are the ones we want. Showing them the love of Christ is a great honor and a wonderful opportunity. Most churches wouldn't have them because they are 'unmanageable'. They make great leaders when they get plugged in.

Do you mind me asking, are you Pentecostal or from that background. What church do you attend?

Also, I can agree that miracles still occur, that God answers prayers and that He can change lives. That aside, what happens when God says no? Sometimes He doesn't answer our prayers or He answers them in a way we don't expect.

I'm not Pentecostal as such, but I do believe in the supernatural. I believe that everything that was recorded in the Bible is still in effect today, and if anything it's even more relevant and needed.

I came out of the new-age error, (psychedelic drugs, self hypnosis, kundalini yoga) and I had friends that were into witchcraft and satanism. We certainly practiced the supernatural before I was saved, and I never even considered the possibility that God is less real, in terms of manifestation, than the devil was. It was actually a shock when I met a preacher who told me that he didn't believe it was for today, as if God retreated. I've been saved now for about 17 years.

Are you a charismatic Catholic? I have several friends that are.

No, I think if you want to define me as far as Catholicism, I am a traditional Catholic.

Hmm.. that is kind of shocking because I still think God operates among us and continues to show His loving care for mankind. I'm with you on that one, God hasn't retreated.

I'm not going to argue the point with you, my son has played it for two years and is still a very mild mannered young man. His best friend comes from a military family, they have played the game together for all that time. My son's friend is joining the army as soon as he turns eighteen.

My son plans to continue with school and college. Then perhaps on to the air force. He is interested in many languages. He has never been in trouble and is no trouble. He helps around the house, and loves his family. Playing America's Army hasn't hurt him a bit. In fact it has been a benefit to his quick thinking, confidence, and how to dedicate himself to details.

I can't speak for other parents but I have seen nothing but a benefit from the game.

In post #28 it was reported that in this game, Catholics are considered infidels, must be converted or killed. If that's the case, this game wouldn't be benefiting anyone except to perhaps turn them into an anti-Catholic bigot.

"It's about time the younger generation got a little impatient with the status quo."

We are. We're just smiling and biding our time until we can wipe the floor with the Commie and Islamist filth. We are pretending to follow the game, cooperating, until the time comes when we are in the exact position we need to be in. Muslim terrorists aren't the only ones who can do this.
